What we collect when you shop with us, why we need it, who we share it with, and how to get it deleted. Short version: we collect what’s needed to take your order and get a cable to you, and we don’t sell your data.

Who controls your data

The data controller for personal information collected through hififorge.com is:

Trading asHiFiForge (hififorge.com)
Registered addressRM 101A, 1/F., Genplas Industrial Building, 56 Hoi Yuen Road, Kwun Tong, Hong Kong

We handle personal data in line with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance of Hong Kong, and โ€” where it applies to you โ€” the UK and EU GDPR.

1. What we collect

Information you give us:

  • Name, email address, shipping and billing address, and phone number when you place an order.
  • Your device make and model, and any build notes, when you ask about compatibility or order a custom cable.
  • Account details if you create an account, and your email address if you subscribe to our newsletter.
  • The content of any message you send us.

Information collected automatically:

  • Standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, device type and operating system.
  • How you use the site โ€” pages viewed, referring site, and time on page.

2. Why we use it

PurposeWhat it involves
Fulfilling your orderProcessing payment, building your cable to the right specification, shipping it, and sending order and dispatch confirmations.
Customer supportAnswering questions, confirming connector compatibility, and handling returns, exchanges and warranty claims.
Legal and accountingKeeping transaction records, meeting tax obligations, and providing customs declarations for international shipments.
Site operation and securityKeeping the store running, diagnosing faults, and preventing fraud and abuse.
Marketing (only with consent)Sending our newsletter, if you have signed up. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

3. Payment information

We never see or store your full card details. Payments are handled by our payment providers on their own secure systems. We receive only what we need to identify the transaction โ€” for example the payment status, the last four digits of the card and the card type.

Your payment provider processes your data under its own privacy policy, which we’d encourage you to read.

4. Who we share it with

We share the minimum necessary with parties who help us complete your order:

  • Our manufacturing partner โ€” your build specification, and the shipping name and address needed to dispatch the parcel.
  • Shipping carriers and customs authorities โ€” the name, address, phone number and declaration details required to deliver and clear the parcel.
  • Payment providers โ€” to take payment and process refunds.
  • Service providers โ€” hosting, email delivery and analytics, acting on our instructions.
  • Authorities โ€” where we are legally required to disclose information.

5. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies for:

  • Essential functions โ€” keeping your cart and session working, and securing checkout. The site cannot operate without these.
  • Preferences โ€” remembering choices such as your language.
  • Analytics โ€” understanding in aggregate how the site is used so we can improve it.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will break the cart and checkout.

6. How long we keep it

Order and transaction records are kept for as long as required by tax and accounting law in the jurisdictions we operate in. Support correspondence is kept as long as it’s useful for warranty and service history. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. After that, data is deleted or anonymised.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live โ€” and in particular under the UK/EU GDPR and similar laws โ€” you may have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data deleted, where we’re not legally required to keep it;
  • object to or restrict certain processing;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent for marketing at any time.

To exercise any of these, email support@hififorge.com from the address associated with your order. We’ll respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before acting, to make sure we’re not handing your data to someone else.

Note that we can’t delete records we’re legally obliged to retain โ€” completed order and tax records, for example โ€” until their statutory retention period expires.

8. Security

The site runs over encrypted HTTPS connections, and access to customer data is limited to the people who need it to do their job. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever affects your personal data we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.

9. Children

Our store is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our practices or the law change. The revision date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. Material changes will be highlighted on the site.

Privacy questions or requests

Access, correction, deletion, or anything else about your data โ€” email us from the address on your order.
